JJ and Rudy's Avril Wannabe Contest

okay, so you guys remember my posts about Avril? yeah, i am posting this one because i am kinda upset those two posts did not manage to hold up my page hits. (is that considered manipulating my blog hits now?) joking! lol. i received more than 50hits on both days, you can click here to see how my bravenet traffic chart looks. i have more than 2333hits as of now.

anyway, i am not in the mood to explain how the whole hitz.fm avril wannabe contest went because i lost and did not get my concert ticket, RM3000 and the fender telecaster guitar. i'll just photoblog this time around. >__>

hitz.fm staff advising all of us not to sing out the words d**m and motherf****** (adrian is the one with red mohawk on the far right, coordinator of the contestants) LOL!

the top ten finalists battling it out for the grand prize - its prince lui at the mic (she's one cosplayer whom i have not met for a million years; jared, if i'm not wrong, was with her supporter gang too - he was Anicom Cosplay judge.)

move along, move along. nothing to see here, just two people battling out for the grand prize with jj and rudy as main hosts of the day.

now there, you better not tell me you had not expected her to win the grand prize, had you? of course, the crossdresser and an 8-year-old had the crowd eating out of their hands like mad.

i got an autograph from all the hitz.fm DJs who were present that day to make the event crazy~ clow took this photo for me and kclee (why the kira pose?). ^__^ thanks for your support!

as we were leaving, thinking whether to crash the sunway lagoon sloggi body art event or not, we bumped into a couple /as/ members! XD so we tagged along with mercury, guest18, linkin, aiko, and the rest to the arcade. but you know i dont do arcades, so kclee, clow and guest18 tagged wimme to meet ywsmokona and friend at zanmai sushi (we dont know where that is) but they left aready, so we met at animetech instead. after that, all bid each other goodbye and i went home with mummy.

hello there! i believe you must have noticed that i gave the blogtop a clean but colourful revamp, in celebration of malaysia's 51st independence day this year. each gashapon (yes, mine) NGE characters above (coincidentally) represent one colour from the malaysia flag - white, yellow, red, blue. for teh lulz, do you know what do the colours symbolize?

though, i have to add that my first impression was, hey it looks like a race promo poster! (i know, horrible too.) btw, go have a look at hatsune miku itasha. do want?

The Best Damn Tour: APPROVED.

sometimes, if you have nothing better to do, please dont dabble your powers in places where you dont have to stir up a storm, like entertainment.

news of avril lavigne's tour to include malaysia was out since early july 2008, confirmation in august. (where else do i get information other than malaysia's most loyal and loving avril fans than here? ^__*) her concert was scheduled to be held on the 29 august 2008 at stadium merdeka.

unfortunately, roughly a month ago, there were speculations about the concert being cancelled (or worse: banned) and true, a certain Youth party representative sent a memorandum to the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry and the Kuala Lumpur mayor, calling the concert off. (many who were looking forward to avril's concert were furiously pricked.)

the memorandum got its say when on 19 august, a gazillion international media reported that the concert was cancelled (some reported banned - typical thing, easily misunderstood vocabulary eh) for example: AP, E! Online, Reuters, Chicago Tribune, New York Times, Gigwise, Bangkok Post, etc. as you can see, the list goes on forever.

following the news of the memorandum, a local family newspaper published letters/emails (IT world isn't it) severely pricked concert go-ers and some parents whose kids who were very disappointed. but. exactly on 19august, the opinions of the aforementioned people were abruptly stopped. no news, no letters to the editor, no nothing. it only reported the cancellation on 21august in a brief article, in good light.

if you dont have an internet it should sound like no biggie because all parties/sponsors of the concert did not announce any cancellation, say, simply removed avril's concert tickets as prizes if it was a contest. but to the rest of the world, it may or may not have become a laughing stock, you decide for yourself. here's a comment by TYT (The Young Turks).

now, six hours ago, the MTV news has reported that avril's concert is indeed approved and rockin' in malaysia. and of course, several many other media followed suit within minutes: Billboard NY, The Star Online, The Canadian Press, and NST Online. (just this many articles at press time lol.)

Sushi Station & Avril Lavigne's Wannabe Tour!

today i went to lunch gathering with several emina members at sushi station (sg wang plaza), namely (curse the namelist) chris, fazri, liyana, nikki, ganesh, among others. whenever i walk past that place, i never thought it was a buffet-style japanese restaurant. (i thought only can have buffet-style at singapore's sakae sushi - which btw thank goodness it has spread to malaysia after i return from singapore but still no buffet-style like s'pore branch.)

it has a cute idea of a sushi conveyor belt: sushi station serves them on a constantly moving train with a very very long train. XD also comes with steamboat-cum-grill along with the buffet at RM30.90 per head. be warned: order at risk, each 100g leftovers are charged rm10. (pretty much same concept as chicken hartz at BTS.)

allow chris to teach you how to eat icecream with chopsticks since their plastic spoons are too soft. should be soft cream with hard spoon, or cones.

the end of the day took a surprise turn for me. after most of them parted ways with kurogane to watch wall-e, left four of us (name, name, chris, me). he and i went wig-shopping and end up at the hotlink-avril-concert booth on LG. i got my mobile a "caller ringtone" (girlfriend - japanese version - but sounds like crap on the phone) to redeem a very large avril lavigne poster (pic below).

when the hotlink promoter mentioned something about the hitz.fm's lookalike/wannabe contest to stand a chance to win her concert tickets, i remembered i wanted to get information about it (but always too busy to remember). anyway, now i have armed myself with information as below:

right now, i am suffering from what you may call as Comic-Fiesta-forum-withdrawal symptom. i have finally reached a dead-end and pulled out all my remaining hair in frustration, for not being able to access CF forum. (i am done with /as/ forum too, since i only follow a couple acg-related threads.)

according to my guess, CF forum is pretty busy now (bandwidth overload?) because everyone is flooding it to find out the details for CF 2008. well, here's the scoop if you are not able to get into the forum (since i already know it 24hours ago):

Taylors Anime Fest 2008 & BBQ night

yet another busy week for me on 26july. TAF08 returns and i went there as ghetto chii. *awaits stares and bricks* sorry~~~i still hadnt found the time to sew up the white costume that chii wears on the manga vol.1 cover. (so i used an alternate pink dress instead.) anyway, why was i busy? because i was tour guide, photographer, booth keeper, cosplayer, friend (lol) all in one event.

[tour guide] around 9am, i was already waiting for the rest of my photography members (all six of us in total) at kl sentral, to take a rapidkl bus to taylor's university college. yuancross, rayray and space-chan left at the same place same time by ktm, yet arrived later. *evil laugh* once i sent my members to the ticket counter and deposited my stuff at the booth i share with ywsmokona, i went to the changing room to put together my ghetto chii.

[friend] then i stayed in the changing room with foxy and nighthuntress while waiting in dilemma. night's wig was being delivered from someone else's hand, but we were kept waiting for a long time. several phone calls were made to motr and cheryl for night to keep track of the wig (eg.: hello? are you here yet? what about now? yes? and now?). then foxy and i decided to squeeze her into the vivi costume since it was taking too long. i had fun using her wigbrush to comb her aqua blue wig (imma wanna get a wigbrush like that too nyaa~) when finally the dark blue wig arrived (kona: naruto shippuden)!

[cosplayer] after an hour of hoarding the changing room, chii finally went out to to the multipurpose hall (mph) greet fanboys (lol, takde lah). and guess what? lucky me: first time i was appearing as chii, i found eclair was cosplaying chii too! we look nothing like opposite twins, as both of us were chii; no freya seen. nevertheless, i guess people who love eclair (kiddy grade) have similar likes? anyway, since some TAS member keep asking around for cosplayers' participation, i joined and performed a monologue.. right before the best monologue of the day: reno (FF:AC), so yeah you bet he won the figurine prize. special thanks to kclee and friend ben for taking photos of me.

[booth keeper] after half the event has gone, i started to set up my stuff for headdress custom service next to ywsmokona's prints. i also randomly passed chocolate pocky to people who passed by our booth. unfortunately, i was not able to man my booth full-time, so in the end i did not receive any orders for the day.

[photographer] last but not least, i did come to TAF08 event with my photography members. naturally i would take photographs whether i was with them or not. i went around for randomness, and did not pay much attention to other cosplayers. perhaps its because i have already seen the same cosplay at previous event. i also took off my chii ears and put onto some other heads, since i wanted to readjust my wig (mind you, 1m long thick wig will need extra handling care). half way through, i had lost track of where penny (vice president) and my photog members went.

at the end of the day, i was rather hungry as i had not much to eat, eventhough there was a sushi king booth! too bad i did not notice it enough to sniff kare rice from afar. mostly i was eating pocky lol. and ywsmokona gave me two lolipops at the end of the day. one i gave away to /as/ member but i forgot whom. @__@;;

the event ended with several anime dance hits (you wont believe how many dances that spawned from anime op/ed) - i danced to caramelldansen only~

anyway, i went for /as/ shah's housewarming bbq gathering thanks, shah! at putrajaya with (gosh, another namelist) stardust, makie, yori, sm, aiko, linkin, guest18, aoshi, valho, among others. =__=;; i was already on the verge of being broke so i dint pay anything, but i still went to the gath and hope to nomnom food while i help out at the charcoal bbq area. nobody noticed enough to mind. i ate butter-honey sausages, grill corn, ikan bakar (catfish smells), and best of all the mouth-watering sos-ikan-bakar-with-honey shiitake mushrooms. XD i skipped the steak selection though venison, beef, etc.

guest sent yori and sm home first. then when he sent me off, he and a couple /as/ members got out of the car to ogle at my dad's ford laser. guest, you drive a nissan sunny at 140kmph and half that speed at u-turn! >__> grow up.
